The objects and images\u00a0I make tap the familiar. \u00a0They are constructed primarily of found\u00a0materials or objects that are reworked and combined through a variety\u00a0of transformative activities. \u00a0They have\u00a0associations that are\u00a0sometimes transparent \u2013 wheels, hanging devices, etc. – that point\u00a0directly to stasis, stability or mobility. Other associations\u00a0are ephemeral and imbedded; they are often\u00a0nearly consumed in the process\u00a0of making but maintain vestiges of the objects\u2019 former function. In\u00a0striving to recognize an object, which seemingly has all the visual\u00a0qualities of a real world\u00a0object, viewers are forced to call up\u00a0associative memories – to peruse mental inventories of the experiences\u00a0that constitute their histories. All our performed experiences\u00a0and imagined times (past or future) are inextricably linked to the objects and\u00a0spaces that comprise our environment. My art is both the transformed\u00a0material\u00a0evidence of my past and a surrogate for the missing. I draw on images, objects,\u00a0and memories to form reliquaries of unconscious associations.<\/p>\n
