University Health Service provides confidential, high-quality health care services for students. University Health Service offers a wide range of primary care services, including treatment for illnesses and injuries, ongoing medical problems, and care and advice for health concerns.

New Patients

Currently, UHS is not accepting employees and other members of the University community as new patients for personal health care, except for residents, fellows, and post-docs who may choose a UHS physician as their primary care provider.

SCHEDULING AN APPOINTMENT WITH UHS

Full-time students who are assessed the mandatory health fee are automatically registered and assigned a Primary Care Provider at UHS. Once you are registered as a UHS patient, you can call (585) 275-2662 to schedule an appointment at any UHS office or to reach the on-call service (for urgent concerns when UHS offices are closed). Students are eligible to receive care at UHS if the mandatory health fee coverage is in effect (August 1 – January 31 for the Fall semester and February 1 – July 1 for the Spring semester).

A change of status鈥攕uch as a deferral, withdrawal, leave of absence, or reduction in course load鈥攚ill impact your eligibility for coverage under the Mandatory Health Fee and therefore access to UHS services. Full-Time graduating students will have access to UHS services and Mandatory Health Fee coverage through July 31聽(January 31聽for Fall Graduates). Please contact insurance@uhs.rochester.edu聽prior to making these types of registration changes to obtain additional information from our Insurance Advisors regarding the impact on eligibility, access, and any related health fees.

Residents and fellows who would like to come to UHS for their personal health care are asked to call (585) 275-2637 or e-mail insurance@uhs.rochester.edu.

To schedule an appointment:
Once you are registered as a UHS patient, you can call (585) 275-2662 to schedule an appointment at any UHS office or to reach the UHS physician on call (for urgent concerns when UHS offices are closed).

The benefits of having a primary care physician at UHS include:

• Full range of primary care services for preventive, acute, and chronic care management
• Access to care 24 hours a day (physician on call when UHS offices are closed)
• Same-day appointments for urgent concerns
• Evening appointments at our office on the River Campus during the school year
• Availability of a registered nurse to answer health concerns by phone
• Offices conveniently located on the University of Rochester River Campus and the Eastman School of Music. (Free parking next to the UHS Building on the River Campus.)

Access to care is provided 24 hours a day, seven days a week throughout the calendar year. All visits to University Health Service are confidential.
